Officials at {High School} believed they were participating in an exciting new scholarship program.
But the administration and {High School} students got more than they bargained for when scholarship staff visited during Scholarship Day.
Each scholarship program had gone through an extensive screening process, {School Admin} says.
The Second Chances Scholarship Fund was among them.
It passed.
“We thought the program was only open to our highest achieving students. That’s clearly what their literature said,” School Admin} says.
Second Chances stands by the scholarship’s promotional materials.
“While some scholarships require students to maintain a 3.5 grade point average, we just ask them to score 0.08 on a breathalyzer test,” says {Villain}, executive director of Second Chances.
When {Villain} spoke at the school assembly, some teachers and administrators were initially unfazed by the terms of the scholarship.
“I thought he was trying to reach out to some of our more troubled students,” says 11th grade English instructor {Teacher 1}. “Even though they wouldn’t qualify for the scholarship, it was a nice gesture making them feel included.”
According to 10th grade math teacher {Teacher 2}, it wasn’t long before staff and students realized the truth about Second Chances.
{Teacher 2} says. “He actually told students to ‘Put your hands on the wheel of destiny.’ And then he said, ‘The road ahead is yours.’ What kind of monster says that?”
{Villain} admits he made that statement, but says his intentions have been misinterpreted.
“They have to take control of their lives. No one else can help them,” he says.
As for the future of this country, how do they feel about the Second Chances scholarship.
“Before, I thought the only way I could afford college was to join the Army. But thanks to Second Chances I won’t have to,” says senior {Student}. “The best part is I don’t have to study hard. All I have to do is do what I do every weekend anyway.”
